Started in 2009, The Gathering Place historic tea room and gift shop seeks to replicate the decor and life of the frontier in the late 1800s. Nestled in the town of Fort Laramie, Wyoming, along the Platte River, near the Oregon and Mormon trails, a few miles from the confluence of the Laramie and Platte Rivers, and near the famed ruins of one of the west's greatest forts, Fort Laramie, The Gathering Place seeks to bring a "taste of the frontier" to the people who visit us.
Originally built as the Fort Laramie schoolhouse in 1919, our building then became the location of the local Justice of the Peace. After purchasing the house and property, Ty and April Simmons followed their dream by making the home into a English-style tea room that specializes in afternoon tea and themed events.
We will also seek to do periodic themed events throughout the year. We are also available for bridal showers, baby showers, small office parties, Bible studies, historical groups, quilting and book clubs, and Red Hat Societies among other gatherings. Please check our website or call us as 307-837-3082 for a calendar of events.
"Steeped in Tradition...
A Timely Experience."
Don't Let anyone tell you Fort Laramie isn't fun!
